In the case of a marking insert having a circular-cylindrical annulus and a fastening screw, the other part of the stepped bore of the annulus is a frustoconical inner lateral surface, on which the screw head bears with a corresponding frustoconical outer lateral surface of the same cone angle. The annulus has on a circular-annular end face, bearing a first moulding marking, at least one mould-clamping actuation means, such as an insert opening or the like, for an actuating tool. The screw shank of the fastening screw is provided with an annular groove which accommodates a resilient retaining ring which is supported on the end face of the annulus remote from the engraved face. The marking insert allows improved handling with relatively little expenditure for its fabrication.
