A process for prodn. of a belt strip, esp. a safety belt for a motor vehicle, entails the insertion of two weft yarns into at least one shed. Here the two weft yarns (3, 5) are inserted over the whole breadth of the woven fabric, one (3) being brought in form one side and the other (5) simultaneously form the other. Additionally a third weft yarn (70 is bound over at least a part of the fabric width with warp yarns. Also claimed is a belt strip with at least two weft yarns mfd. according to the process with a third weft yarn.
