Prodn. of rod lenses, esp. micro-rod lenses for laser devices, involves (a) pressing a heated glass rod (1) at least partially into the peripheral shaping contour (2) of an upper and/or lower tool (3), while the rod and tool move relative to one another; and (b) cutting individual rod lenses from the shaped glass rod. Also claimed are (i) a shaping appts. for carrying out the above process; and (ii) a process for prodn. of the shaping appts.
