Independent identical containers and group of lids connected by cross pieces which rest on the upper edges of the containers. Each lid engages within the container to a predetermined depth locking the assembly together. A second layer of containers rest on the cross members and are locked in position by: (a) cooperation between the cross members and lower projections on the containers, (b) penetration of the lower projections into the first layer of containers. The procedure is repeated to form a stable stack of alternate containers and lids. The number of containers and lids are equal. Pref. containers are rectangular with flared longer edges having symmetrical folds. A palette (22a, 22b) with base capable of being handled by fork lift has cross members similar to those attaching the lids with stops preventing movement of the stacks of containers. Lids are fixed to cross members via either spacers or compression springs which determine the degree of penetration of lids in containers. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for moulding and thermal treatment of meat products, e.g. hams, pork shoulder and fillets, chicken legs, particularly for cooking under vacuum. Appts. has stable lightweight construction and is easy to handle.
