Process for radiolabelling cells comprises adding a compsn. comprising a Tc-99m nitride complex of formula (TCEN)L1L2 (I) to a suspension of the cells; L1, L2 = dithiocarbamate ligands of formula R1NEt-C(S)-S, R1 = Et or OEt, provided that L1 and/or L2 has R1 = OEt. Also claimed are: (1) a radiopharmaceutical compsn. comprising a suspension of cells labelled with (I) where L1 and L2 = (II); R1 = OEt). (2) a radiopharmaceutical compsn. comprising a suspension of granulocytes labelled with (I) as defined above without the proviso. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful for labelling blood cells, e.g. leucocytes, esp. granulocytes, esp. for localising sites of inflammation or infection. Leucocytes are labelled with high efficiency (e.g. 85-94% of radioactivity incorporated into cells) and with high selectivity over other cells esp. erythrocytes and platelets.
