PURPOSE: To measure carbonyl compound in the atmosphere for a long term while saving the manpower. ;CONSTITUTION: An atmospheric sample is introduced from the lower end of an absorption tower 2 and an absorption liquid, i.e., DNPH (2, 4 dinitrophenylhydrazine) solution is fed from the upper end thereof. In the absorption tower 2, the atmospheric sample and the absorption liquid are subjected to counter-current contact and the carbonyl compound in the atmosphere is absorbed into the absorption liquid. A measured quantity of absorption liquid, taken out from the lower end of the absorption tower 2, is sampled through a sample loop 10 and introduced to an HPLC column 12 where the carbonyl compound is separated and detected by means of a detector D. Tubes 16, 26 filled with silica get coated with DNPH are disposed for an absorption liquid reservoir 8 and a moving phase reservoir 20 between a port opened to the atmosphere and a release valve in order to prevent mixture of the carbonyl compound from the atmosphere.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
