PURPOSE: To obtain the subject phthalocyanine having high sensitivity and a contrasty sensitive property, useful as a photosensitizer for electrophotography, etc., by dry-grinding α-from non-metallic phthalocyanine to transform crystal and heat-treating it in the range not transforming to β-form. ;CONSTITUTION: This non-metallic phthalocyanine is obtained by dry-grinding α-form non-metallic phthalocyanine to transform to a crystal form having photoconductivity and heat-treating it in a temperature range not transforming to β-form (preferably 150-250°C). As the crystal form having the photoconductivity, a non-metallic phthalocyanine having only two clear diffraction peaks in the range of Bragg's angles to Cu-Kα X-ray of 21-25° (allowance range: ±0.2°) is especially preferable.
