THIAZIDE COMPOUND AND COMPOSITION FOR THERAPY OF HYPERTENSION, ANTIHYPERTENSION AND DIURESIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition capable of regulating the gastrointestinal absorption without causing diuretic actions by converting a thiazide-based diuretic into a complex with an ion exchange resin or into a salt, etc., with a hydroxyl compound and thereby protecting the thazide-based diuretic. SOLUTION: A thiazide used in the form of a thiazide adsorbing complex with a cation/anion exchange resin mixture, an insoluble basic hydroxy metallic thiazide salt or a thazide salt with calcium disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate or disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate or a molecular complex between the thiazide and a long-chain polymer, etc., as an antihypertensive agent. The agent provides systemic antihypertensive actions unrelated to the diuretic actions on the kidney in a smaller dose than that as a diuretic agent. That is, the agent is effective with the thiazide compound in a unit dose of 7-25% based on the dose as the diuretic actions. The agent is capable of nearly completely avoiding a loss in potassium and usable for a long period due to hardly any occurrence of alkalosis.
