PURPOSE: To precisely determine whether powder and granular material inside a hopper is normally conveyed, stuck, or conveyed out completely from the hopper when varied kinds of powder and granular material such as combustion ash generated in a boiler is transported from the hopper. ;CONSTITUTION: In a method by which powder and granular material 2 inside a hopper 1 is sucked to a conveying pipe 4 so as to be transported, a differential pressure is measured between a space above the powder and granular material 2 inside the hopper 1 and the inside of the conveying pipe 4. A change in the differential pressure with the lapse of time is continuously measured, while a change in the differential pressure is found in every lapse of the predetermined time. A device is provided with pressure sensors 5, 6 arranged in the space above the powder and granular material 2 inside the hopper 1 and in the inside of the conveying pipe 4, a differential pressure gauge 7 connected to both sensors 5, 6, and a computing determination device 8 connected to the differential pressure gauge 7. In this way, a transporting condition of combustion ash can be determined with high precision even when a combustion condition in a boiler is changed, so that troubles during transporting work can be solved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
