CONNECTION METHOD FOR ADJACENT SHIELD TUNNEL AND UNDERGROUND SPACE CONSTRUCTION METHOD

PURPOSE: To make it possible to form easily a large scale underground space. ;CONSTITUTION: A group of shield tunnels selected alternately from adjacent shield tunnels 10 in a connected state, are specified as preceding tunnels 10a, which are excavated by excavating under the development of a back-filled setting body having a specified thickness around a segment 15 assembled in the rear of a shield machine. A group of left over shield tunnels are excavated as a following shielded tunnel 10, thereby forming a part of the back-filled setting body 16. Each shielded tunnel segment is properly reinforced with a support member 19 while the segments located at each connection part 20 are removed and the back-filled setting body 16 is removed, thereby communicating each adjacent shielded tunnel. Each connection segment 21 is set up between the segments of the adjacent shield tunnels, thereby forming a crust 13 which covers the ground 12.
