LOUDNESS RATING APPARATUS FOR IMPULSIVE INTERMITTENT SOUND

PURPOSE: To provide a loudness rating apparatus which can rate the loudness of an intermittent sound, clarify the problem of noise in a sense of hearing, draft and execute a noise remedy based on the sense of hearing. ;CONSTITUTION: Mechanical noise radiated from a mechanical apparatus is measured by a noise measuring instrument 1, the measured data is converted into digital amount by an analog-digital converter 2, and stored in a data memory 3. The noise data stored in the memory 3 is input to a digital filter 4, which passes noise component in a critical bandwidth in an audible frequency, and detects the passed sound pressure waveform of each bandwidth by a detector 5. An envelope calculator 6 obtains the envelope of the waveform for the detected output, and corresponding sound volume is output to a level calculator 7. The calculator 7 level-converts the input sound pressure. An auditory characteristic unit 8 obtains the loudness of each critical bandwidth from the converted output of the calculator 7, inputs it to a loudness calculator 9, calculates the general loudness, and displays it on a display unit 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
