PURPOSE: To provide a collagen-based implant for tissue restoration having improved tensile strength and elasticity. ;CONSTITUTION: It relates to a method to prepare collagen-based implant material, including the following manufacturing processes; 1. a process to frm an aqueous mixture of fibrous collagen and water soluble bridging agent. 2. a process to form the mixture into gelled formation. 3. a process to dry the formed gel at a temperature of 0°C-45°C until its water content becomes about 30-40% wt. under the condition for the weight loss of about 1-50% wt. per hour and 4. a process to heat the dried product at a temperature beyond 45°C up to about 120°C for about 1-48 hours in the presence of inert gas or under reduced pressure until its water content becomes less than 30% wt. and harden the product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
