PURPOSE: To provide a tide gauge which can detect the tide level at a location any time with high measurement accuracy. ;CONSTITUTION: A water pressure electrode combination type water level measuring instrument is constituted by integrally connecting an electrode type detector B in which electrodes 24 are arranged at an interval to the lower end of a water pressure type detector A and housing the detectors A and B in protective pipes 11, 21, and 27. A scanning circuit successively receives the outputs of the electrodes 24 and finds the continuously changing water level at a location. At the same time, the scanning circuit also finds the water level from the output of the detector A. An accurate water level is found by plotting the measured values in orthogonal coordinates, with the axes of the coordinates respectively representing water levels found from the detectors A and B, finding a regression line by the method of least squares, and correcting the water levels detected by the detector A based on the regression line.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
