PURPOSE: To produce a stainless steel sheet excellent in high temp. oxidation resistance by subjecting a cold rolled ferritic stainless steel sheet in which the contents of Cr and Al are limited to electrolytic pickling, immediately after that, washing the same by cold water and executing specified chromate treatment and baking. ;CONSTITUTION: A cold rolled ferritic stainless steel sheet contg. 15 to 22% Cr and 0.08 to 0.20% Al is subjected to electrolytic pickling by a mixed acid soln. or the like to remove away a surface oxidized film. Immediately after that, this steel sheet is washed by water of ≤40°C and is next subjected to chromate treatment in a soln. contg. 0.5 to 2.0g/l CrO3. This treated steel sheet is dried and is thereafter baked at 50 to 100°C steel sheet temp. for ≥3sec. Thus, the high temp. oxidation resistance at about 400 to 600°C of the Al-contg. ferritic stainless steel can economically be improved by the combination of simple conditions.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
