PURPOSE: To obtain a fluorinated alkene derivative at a low cost in a large amount and in a good yield by reacting antimony pentachloride with hydrogen fluoride and subsequently with a perchlorinated conjugated diene compound. ;CONSTITUTION: (A) Antimony pentachloride is reacted with hydrogen fluoride and subsequently with (B) a perchlorinated conjugated diene compound (e.g. hexachlorobutadiene, hexachlorocyclopentadiene) to obtain (C) a vic- dichlorofluoroalkene derivative of formula I (R1, R2 are independently perfluoroalkyl, or together form perfluoroalkylene). The product C is hydrogenated in the presence of a basic compound and a hydrogenation catalyst to obtain the fluorinated alkane derivative of formula II. The chlorine atom of the product C is fluorinated with a fluorinating agent and subsequently reacted with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to obtain the fluorinated alkane derivative of formula III.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
