PURPOSE:To provide a method and an apparatus for detecting the upper lid line, the inner canthus and outer canthus points, which can endure noise and the aging change and detect them more easily than before. CONSTITUTION:A first V-Ditch Edge signal 15 is obtained by a first V-Ditch Edge detecting means 4 in which an input image signal 11 obtained by taking a photo of the vicinity of the eye of a man face and an upper lid region signal 14 of an image are input to so as examine an image from a certain direction.
