PURPOSE: To solve the problem of particle contamination in an optical disk driving system. ;CONSTITUTION: An optical disk cartridge 400 is inserted into a drive by rotating a door 222, provided in a housing 200 and engaged with a sealing member 360. The drive is divided into an upper compartment 460 for storing an electronic device required for cooling and a lower compartment 462 housing an optical element. A good air flow is obtained in the upper compartment 460 by means of a fun 232 and the open part of the door 200. The lower compartment 462 is hermetically sealed from air flow. A wing 212 is arranged on an optical head 20 in the lower compartment 462 and the optical head 20 is protected from air flow generated by a rotating disk 12.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
