RAIL-BASED CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION MONITORING DEVICE WITH AUTOMATIC TARGET ACQUISITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire an image at a fixed position within a minimum time by catching the image of a prescribed target object at every time while a camera exists at two different selected points along with a track. ;SOLUTION: A monitoring camera 10 attached to a carriage 12 is provided. The carriage 12 is held in a freely movable manner on a slender track, namely, a rail 14 and the rail 14 is held hanging from the ceiling 16 of a building. In this case, the carriage 12 is moved along with the rail 14 according to a determined pattern, during which, the direction, zooming and focus of a camera 10 are controlled in determined patterns as well, so that the camera 10 executes routine monitoring. When an alarm signal is generated from a sensor 26 related to a door 20 while the camera 10 is located within a range to catch a target 20, a monitoring device calculates a suitable panning angle, inclination angle, zooming and focus states of the camera 10 and immediately provides an image of the target 20 onto a video display device.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
