OPEN INSPECTION METHOD FOR DOUBLE SHELL GROUND CRYOGENIC TANK

PURPOSE: To carry out inspection and replacement of side nozzles and anchor straps without drawing all of grain shaped barytes while cryogenic liquid is in an inner tank. ;CONSTITUTION: A horizontal slit 14a extended in the circumferential direction and vertical slits 14b extended downward from both end sections of the horizontal slit 14a are bored in the outer tank side board 4b of a double shell ground cryogenic tank. Sheathing boards 15a and 15b are inserted in the inside of the outer tank 4 through the slits 14a and 14b, and formed into a sheathing frame 15 in a reversely recessed shape. Grain shaped barytos 8 within the sheathing frame 15 are drawn out through a manhole 17 made in the outer tank side board 4b. Side nozzles are inspected by making use of the inside of the sheathing frame 15 as a working space. After inspection has been over, grain shaped barytos 8 are filled up again in the sheathing frame 15.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
