PURPOSE: To provide a paste-like nickel hydroxide electrode using a high-density nickel hydroxide with boron being covalent precipitated which can be used suitably for an electrode of a rechargeable alkaline battery, etc. CONSTITUTION: In an electrode, paste is formed by mixing a nickel hydroxide containing boron of the range 0.5 to 5.0 mol.% B, a cobalt compound as an electric conductive material, and carboxyl methyl cellulose(CMC) solution as a binding agent, and the paste is covered with nickel foam. After this is dried in an oven and a sheet of the electrode is compacted with a roll press. This electrode is formed of the nickel hydroxide containing boron in the range of 0.5 to 5.0 mol.% B as an active material and exhibits excellent performance i.e., high discharge performance, good charging efficiency, and high oxygen release overvoltage.
