Prepared by removing 0.01 to 0.14 mole of zirconium salt and alkali with respect to 1 mole of nickel salt to remove unnecessary salts from the reaction product, and containing 0.1 to 10% by weight of zirconium, which enables high-density filling into the current collector. As related to nickel, the nickel electrode using the same has little swelling during charging and discharging, and the charge and discharge cycle characteristics of an alkaline secondary battery in which the nickel electrode is contained as a positive electrode become good.
