The use of N-phenyl-2-cyano-3-hydroxycrotonamide derivatives of the formula I IMAGE where R1 is hydrogen atom or (C1-C4)-alkyl, R2 is CN, CX3, WCX3, W(CH2)nCX3, NO2, (CH2)nCX3, halogen, in which X is halogen, W is oxygen or sulphur atom and n is an integer from 1 to 3, R3 is (C1-C4)-alkyl, (C3-C6)-cycloalkyl, CN or -CO-R4 in which R4 is (C1-C4)-alkyl or (C3-C6)-cycloalkyl, and/or the physiologically tolerated salts thereof, for the treatment of rheumatic disorders, autoimmune diseases and of rejection reactions against the transplanted organ in an organ recipient, is described.
