Improvements to carriages (gantries, frames, portals) for automated welding of panels

The aim of the carriage and respective equipment is to form panels by butt welding of steel sheets. Welding of the sheets is carried out by means of one-side welding (OSW), in the low position, it being unnecessary, however, to turn the panel subsequently to conclude welding. The welding process uses the submerged arc system with the placing of appropriate flux on both sides of the joint. On the underside, use is made of a flexible cover plate on which the welding flux is deposited. They are essentially characterized by a beam 3 which supports the cover plate to be secured with one of the lower sheet- holding beams, by the automatic system 10 for placing the flux on the cover plate utilizing a worm for lifting and transporting the flux and moving autonomously, having recourse to electric motorization, and the horizontal guide device 11 of the contact probe belonging to the automatic system for following (monitoring) the joint.
