TREE STUMP GRINDERS AND METHODS OF GRINDING TREE STUMPS

The tree stump grinder is adapted to beattached to a backhoe or an excavator with a boomand a stick. The tree stump grinder includes a yokewhich is pivotally secured to the stick. Ahydraulic grinder swing cylinder is provided topivot the yoke relative to the stick. Fixed stubshafts are secured to arms of the yoke. Circularend plates are attached to the respective hubs. Onehub is rotatably journaled on one stub shaft and theother hub is rotatably journaled on the other stubshaft. A hydraulic motor is fixed to one stub shaftand drives the other hub. A grinder drum isattached to the circular end plates and encloses thehydraulic motor. Oil is supplied to the hydraulicmotor through passages in one of the stub shafts. Aplurality of block and bit assemblies are attachedto the outside surface of the grinder drum. Ananchor assembly is also pivotally attached to thestick. A hydraulic anchor cylinder is connected tothe stick and the anchor assembly for pivoting theanchor assembly relative to the stick. Hydraulicfluid is supplied to rotate the grinder drum and toposition the anchor assembly and the yoke.
