TRUCK WHEEL-SPACING CHANGING METHOD, AND VARIABLE WHEEL-SPACING TRUCK, AND GROUND FACILITY THEREFOR

There is provided a truck wheel-spacingchanging method in which the basic structures of thebogie frame and the truck are not made complicated, andonly an improvement of the bearing portion is required;the running stability is not inferior to that of aconventional truck of a fixed wheel-spacing type; andthe track includes no moving part and the maintenance ofthe wheel gauge changing system is easy.The truck is equipped with axle boxes slidablysupporting axles extending between side beams of thebogie frame. Axle box receivers are selectively andreleasable connected with the axle boxes at a pluralityof predetermined positions by locking members. When thetruck is moved from the one railway to a junction rail-way, the auxiliary wheels mounted on axle box receiversof the truck engage with running paths and raise thevehicle (truck and vehicle body) except the wheel setsand releasing said locked condition by the lockingmembers. When moved through a region where the trackgauge of the junction railway is changing or wherespacings of inside or outside guide rails is changing,the wheels are pushed by a pair of guide rails or a pairof junction railway rails and shifted transverselytogether with the axle boxes relative to the axle.Finally, when the truck is moved completely over thejunction railway section, a truck wheel-gpacing changingoperation is completed.
