The platinum alloy based catalyst is prepared by (a) impregnating a carbon support with more than one metals or oxides of platinum, iron, cobalt, chromium and vanadium, (b) alloying it partially by heating at 450-900 deg.C, (c) dissolving the non-alloyed metal with acid solution such as 0.01-10M aqueous solution of nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid or 10-100% phosphoric acid solution to increase the active surface area of metal particles.
