FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method for processing farm wastes of plant origin into xylose for use in organic synthesis or application as feed additive involves hydrolysis of raw material in sulfuric acid solution. Prior to hydrolysis the material is washed with the use of hot water and exposed to diluted sulfuric acid. After filtering off the material that did not react, the product of hydrolysis is neutralized with some neutralizing agent with the use of a multichamber electric dialysis apparatus having alternating cationic and anionic membranes. The product of hydrolysis is conveyed into the diluate chambers, sulfuric acid solution is conveyed into the cathode and anode chambers, and regenerated acid is produced in adjacent chambers. Water is conveyed into the acid chambers in order to reduce concentration of sulfuric acid and increase its output. The product of neutralization is purified and condensed for isolation of the final product by the conventional methods.
