FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: claimed invention describes intermediate compound (II) suitable for preparation of compound (I) having renin- inhibiting activity and process for preparing compound (I) using said intermediate compound II which is given below: (wherein R¹ is lower alkyl which may be substituted by group of formula: N(R⁷)-CO-N(R⁸)(R⁹) wherein R⁷ is hydrogen or lower alkyl and R⁸ and R⁹ together with nitrogen atom they are attached to form heterocyclic group optionally substituted or the like; R² is hydrogen, lower alkyl or the like; R³ is hydrogen or lower alkyl; R⁴ is hydrogen or N-protective group; R⁵ is hydrogen or carboxy protective group and R¹⁰ is lower alkyl the claimed process is industrially advantageous in that it allows one to obtain desired product (I) with high yield form cheaper starting material as compared with traditional processes. EFFECT: improved properties of the new intermediate compound.
