The screen comprises tree-like plants planted at intervals in one or more rows. The main stems (2a-2e) and side stems cross one another in the same or adjacent rows at desired positions to form points of close contact. A mutual interchange of plant material takes place and the contact points become interconnections (3a,3b,3c). In the biologically joined plant system each plant does not compete with its neighbours for nutrient so that growth takes place at an even growth rate and the plants have a similar lifespan. The interconnected plants grow to form a two or three dimensional lattice barrier (1a).
