Lung perfusion and ventilation chamber for small experimental animals

The lung (2) of an experimental animal (3) is perfused and ventilated in a chamber (1) by arterial (7) and venous (6) connections to a perfusion unit and placing a canula (8) from a ventilator (5) in the trachea. When the experimental animal is a mouse (3) the chamber (1) is constructed to take the whole animal and the ventilator (5) is connected directly to the trachea cannula (8) through a section (9) containing a conditioning arrangement (10) for the respiratory air.
