Sulphonium prepolymer (I) of a F-substd. organic poly-1,4-phenylene-vinylene polymer (F-PPV) is of formula (I). RT1-3 = H or F; X = Br or Cl; n = 100 or more. Also claimed is an LCD device, which has a pair of substrates with transparent electrode films, an orientation film of F-PPV on each electrode and a liquid crystal injected between the orientation films.
