A mounting unit for a cooking hob with glass-ceramic cooking area is described, comprising the glass-ceramic cooking area, a bordering frame for the glass-ceramic cooking area, a sealing profile between glass-ceramic cooking area and bordering frame and clamping or gripping devices for securing the glass-ceramic cooking area in the bordering frame, in which mounting unit, to ensure simple mounting and demounting while retaining the frame diversity required by the market nowadays, the glass-ceramic cooking area (10) is provided with conically bevelled side faces (12), a bordering frame (20) has at its upper end a portion (24) which tapers substantially conically towards the upper edge of the trimming strip (22) and against whose wall the glass-ceramic cooking area (10), which can be inserted from below into the bordering frame (20) and secured by means of the clamping or gripping device, is applied by its bevelled side faces (12), with interposition of the sealing profile (40) to such an extent that the upper side (14) of the glass-ceramic cooking area (10) is situated lower with respect to the upper edge of the trimming strip (22) or else teminates flush with the latter.
