Prophylactive treatment method of keloids and hypertrophic scars

The method involves inserting clamps, with suitable instruments, across the scar or wound to provide long-lasting stretching of the corium in the region of the wound or scar. The clamps may be elastically flexible parallel to the skin surface and are available in various skin colours. The clamps may remain in place for many months and do not provide the primary wound closure. Different sizes of clamps are used according to the thickness of the skin and tensile loading. Specially shaped clamps, which are more strongly curved under the skin, can be used to apply compression perpendicularly to the scar.
