Long nip press for e.g. dewatering fibrous web materials

A long nip press consists of two press elements (1, 2), of which one (1) is in the form of a flexible, impermeable belt which moves in the same direction (16) as the prod. web and which can be pressed against the other element by a support element (4) extending across the width of the machine. The support element includes a force transmitter (5) mounted on a rigid cross-member (6) and acting on a sliding shoe (7) supporting the belt. Additional correcting force transmitters (8, 9), mounted on the cross-member or the shoe itself, act on the leading and/or trailing edges of the shoe in the same or the opposite direction as the main force transmitter. Also claimed is a similar arrangement in which the additional transmitters act in a direction perpendicular to the main transmitter.
