In order to compensate for the displacement force resulting from movement of the blades in a cutting device which consists of groups of blades, it is proposed, in the case of a cutting device which is provided with two groups of blades and in which the groups of blades can be moved in opposite directions, that the longer blades (11) of one group be guided in slots (14) in transverse lengths (4) of a clamping frame (1) of the shorter blades (8) of the other group. The group of longer blades (11) can be arranged in the same plane as the group of shorter blades (8) via the slots (14) provided in the transverse lengths (4) of the clamping frame (1) of the shorter blades (8), without the groups of blades driven in opposite directions or their clamping frames impeding one another.
