A method of prescreening for possible prostate cancer comprises measuring serum specific antigen (PSA) concentration and comparing that concentration to a specific threshold value to identify a subpopulation of men having a high risk of the presence of prostate cancer, thus suggesting more extensive diagnostic procedures to confirm or eliminate diagnosis of prostate cancer.
