Qualitative and/or quantitative analysis of substances (A), partic. biological, present in a liq. conductive medium (LC), uses an affinity captor comprising -1 structure consisting of a semiconductor (Sc), coated on 1 of its faces by an insulating layer (Is) itself fixed to a sensitive membrane (Mb) that:(1) is in contact with the LC, and(2) carries ligands (L) complementary to (A) and able to bind to it. A voltage is applied between the Sc and the LC and variations in electrical signals induced by a charge effect directly and specifically associated with the binding of (A) and (L) are recorded. Any signal variations caused by the charge effects induced by the enzyme-catalysed reactions that consume part of (A) are excluded, and the signals are then interpreted to identify and/or measure (A). Also new is the affinity captor itself.
