PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing sintered ores using a downward suction type sintering machine by which the air permeability in a sintered layer and productivity are good even if a raw material to be sintered is of fine grains and the quantity of NOx generated is small. ;SOLUTION: At first, a raw material to be sintered-packed layer 6 at the lower stage is formed on a pallet 8a provided with stands 21 for supporting a sintered cake 10 at the lower stage, and thereafter, coke, which exsists at the surface layer part on the upper surface of the raw material to be sintered-packed layer 6 at this lower stage, is ignited to start the manufacture of the sintered cake 10 at the lower stage. After the time of point when the formed sintered cake 10 becomes to be supported by the stands 21, the raw material to be sintered-packed layer 6a at the upper stage is formed on the sintered cake 10 at a lower stage thereof, and coke, which exists at the surface layer part on the upper surface of the raw material to be sintered-packed layer 6a at this upper stage is also ignited to start the manufacture of the sintered cake 10a at the upper stage.
