METHOD AND DEVICE IMPROVED TO RECOGNIZE HANDWRITTEN SENTENSE USING CHANGELESS FEATURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently recognize a handwritten sentence by providing a curve as a new feature signal of the curve represented independent of the size, position, or azimuth. ;SOLUTION: Two points P₁ and P₂ on the curve are selected, and the intersection P of the tangents of those two points P₁ and P₂ is found; and the distances from the points P₁ and P₂ to the intersection P are found and the ratio of those distances is calculated for generation. For all points where the ratio of tangents can not be defined along the curve, special constant values are specified. Further, a method for recognizing the handwritten sentence irrelevantly to a scale and an azimuth is obtained by representing a handwritten sample with a feature signal independent of the scale and rotation. To represent the handwritten sample, a feature signal of the ratio of tangents and a feature signal of normalized curvature are used independently or together.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
