PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint method of which processes are reduced and transport and mounting of a diaphragm can be facilitated. ;SOLUTION: A steel pillar 1 is cut off between upper and lower flanges 2a of steel beams 2 to be joined to the pillar, through holes 4 are formed in the vicinity of the places corresponding to the four flange faces, and bevels 5 are formed on the circumferential edges of the holes. Four diaphragm pieces which are cut off from a square plate smaller than the hollow hole area of the steel pipe pillar 1 along the diagonal lines so as to form right-angled triangles, formed with bevels 6 on the two sides pinching the right angle, and provided with nut parts 7 capable of projecting the extreme ends from the through holes 4 on the hypotenuse parts, are inserted into the steel pipe pillar 1 and the extreme end parts of the nut parts 7 are insertedly fitted into the through holes 4. Next the extreme end parts of the nut parts 7 of the diaphragm pieces 8 are welded 10 to the steel pipe pillar 1, and after welding 10 the adjoining parts of the mutual diaphragm pieces 8 and then to the steel pipe pillar 1, beam fitting members 13 are fitted to the nut parts 7 by means of bolts 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
