PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for arranging tobacco leaves capable of holding the tobacco leaves from a tobacco leaf group formed in a large pile one by one and conveying the tobacco leaves in an arranged posture thereof into a prescribed tool for housing the tobacco leaves. ;CONSTITUTION: This device 50 for holding tobacco leaves comprises a sensing means capable of sensing the position of a midrib of each tobacco leaf in a noncontact manner, preferably a color sensor and a tobacco leaf holding means designed to operate on a sensed signal from the sensing means and hold the tobacco leaves in which the midrib is sensed. The device 50 is capable of freely moving on moving rails 11a, 11b and 12 laid on a frame unit 10. The tobacco leaves T are sensed with the sensing means, held in the midrib part, separated from a tobacco leaf group Ta, conveyed into a tool 30 for housing the tobacco leaves and piled up thereon.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
