PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the cells of an aquatic organism or the like stuck to an electric conductive base material from the surface to be antifouled by impressing a positive potential not causing the decomposition of an electrolyte and further impressing a higher positive potential than that not causing the decomposition of the electrolyte. ;SOLUTION: A nylon resin substrate 3 and an electric conductive base material 2 obtained by forming an electric conductive resin layer electrode 4 thereon are arranged in a testing vessel 1. The positive potential not causing the decomposition of the electrolyte is impressed to the electric conductive base material 2 from a potentiostat 5 to sterilize the aquatic organism. Further the higher positive potential than that not causing the decomposition of the electrolyte is impressed to the electric conductive base material 2 from the potentionstat 5 to sterilize and finally a negative potential is impressed to release. As a result, the cell of the aquatic organism, the dead body, scale or the like stuck to the electric conductive base material 2 is removed from the surface to be antifouled.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
