IN-LINE METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING SURFACE PROPERTY OF MATERIAL USING PHOTOELECTRIC COLORIMETER/ COLOR DIFFERENCE METER

PURPOSE: To provide an in-line method and device for controlling surface property of material in the manufacturing processes of various kinds of materials. ;CONSTITUTION: In an in-line method for controlling surface property of material, the surface color index of a material 7 is measured with a photoelectric colorimeter/ color difference meter 1 and transferred to an electronic computer 4 through a communication line 5. The computer 4 compares the index with a preset surface color index, calculates various kinds of manufacturing parameters required for changing the surface color index within a set range, transfers the parameters to a material performance controller 6 through the line 5, and controls the surface property of the material 7 by changing the operating condition of the controller 6. This device for controlling surface property of material is constituted of the meter 1, a three-dimensional linear stage 2 which moves in the directions perpendicular and parallel to the surface of the material 7 for measuring the surface color index distribution, driver/controller 3 which controls the movement of the stage 2, computer 4 which collects and analyzes data, decides and transfers required manufacturing parameters, and controls the driver/ controller 3, and the line 5 for transferring data between devices.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
