PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a stainless steel extremely few in hot rolling flaw and excellent in high temp. characteristics by preparing a ferritic stainless steel having a specified componental compsn. in which each content of Si and Mn, the ratio of Si/Mn and slag heating conditions are prescribed. ;SOLUTION: A ferritic stainless steel having a compsn. contg., by weight, ≤0.03% C, ≤0.03% N, ≤0.9% Si, 0.7 to 1.3% Mn, 10 to 27% Cr and ≤ 0.20% Al, in which the ratio of Si/Mn is regulated to 0.3 to 0.7, furthermore contg. one or ≥ more kinds of ≤0.8% Nb and ≤0.5% Ti and one kind of ≤3.0% W, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities, and in which 0.2% proof stress at 900°C is regulated to ≥1.5MPa is prepd. In this way, the stainless steel extremely few in hot rolling flaw and excellent in high temp. characteristics without being subjected to repickling and grinding can efficiently be obtd.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
