METHOD FOR REDUCING SCALE BITING FLAW IN HOT ROLLING FERRITIC STAINLESS STEEL SHEET

PURPOSE: To increase the production capability of a hot rolling mill and reduce the scale biting flaw of a stainless steel sheet by using graphite crystallization rolls and high-speed steel rolls for work rolls in the prestage and poststage of a finishing mill and optimizing the load distribution to each stand of a rolling mill in a hot rolling line. ;CONSTITUTION: Rolling is executed by using high chromium cast iron rolls for F1-F3, high alloy grain rolls for F4-F6 and making the load distribution to the finishing mill and the steel sheet temp. on the outlet side of the roughing mill the same conditions. Further, rolling is executed by using the graphite crystallization rolls for F2 and F3, the same work rolls as a conventional method for other mills and making the load distribution to the finishing mill and the steel sheet temp. on the outlet side of the roughing mill the same conditions. Consequently, the scale biting flaw of the ferritic stainless steel sheet is reduced without decreasing the production capability of hot rolling. This method contributes to the reduction/preventation or repeat of the pickling treatment of the hot rolled sheet of the ferritic stainless steel sheet and the reduction of the cost of pickling.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
