PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the optimum blade tool length of a tool in the NC (numeric control) working of a metallic mold and to NC-work the metallic mold in short time through the use of the optimum blade tool length. SOLUTION: The real working form 3 of a working product is operated/ stored by computer simulation based on NC data. The tool composed of the blade tool 5 where the blade tool length is assumed and a holder 4, the working product and a jig are solidified and computer simulation is executed. The presence or absence of the mutual interference among the tool, the working product and the jig and the coordinate of the blade tool tip center of interference points is detected and stored. Inspection points P1 and P2 for inspecting in which position of the holder 4 in the tool interference is executed for the respective interference points are designated. They are compared with the actual working form 3 of the working product for the respective examination points P1 and P2 for the respective examination points P1 and P2 . A necessary increment Hn is calculated, the maximum value of the calculated blade tool increments Hn of the respective examination points is obtained and it is added to the initial value of the blade tool length.
