METHOD AND DEVICE FOR INSTRUCTION SCHEDULING IN OPTIMIZED COMPILER FOR MINIMIZING OVERHEAD INSTRUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To schedule an object program instruction in the optimized path of an optimized compiler. ;SOLUTION: A latest microprocessor is provided with ability capable of issuing plural instructions in one clock cycle or is provided with plural pipelined function units or is provided with both of them. Also, it is provided with the ability for adding two values and forming addresses inside a memory loading instruction and a memory storage instruction as well. In such a microprocessor, this method achieves the acceleration by reducing the number of specified overhead instructions inside a modulo schedule loop. In the method, a reducible overhead instruction is specified (156), the remaining instructions are scheduled by using a normal modulo scheduling procedure (160) and then, the three or less copies of the reducible instructions are inserted to the schedule by appropriate judgement (162).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
