PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound having biodegradability, excellent chelating force and widely useful as a detergent composition, a detergent builder or a peroxide stabilizer, etc., at a high yield in a high purity. ;SOLUTION: Bimolecular amino acid e.g. obtained from L-aspartic acids is reacted with a unimolecular dihaloalkane derivative (e.g. dichloropropane) or epichlorohydrin in a solvent (e.g. diethylene glycol) in the presence of a metal ion (e.g. magnesium hydroxide) and under the alkaline condition by using sodium hydroxide at pH9-12 and at 50-160C. After the reaction, the reacted solution is treated with a mineral acid to obtain the objective diamine-type polyamino acid and an alkali metal salt thereof.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
