LUBRICATING OIL CONTAINING METAL CARBONATED SULFURIZED ALKYLPHENATE AND METAL CARBONATED ALKYLARYLSULFONATE SALT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition containing a small amount of a metal carbonated sulfurized alkylphenate and a small amount of metal carbonated alkylarylsulfonate and having good solvent dispersibility and good corrosion resistance. ;SOLUTION: This lubricating oil comprises (A) a major amount of an oil having a lubricating viscosity, (B) a minor amount of a metal carbonated sulfurized alkylphenate, and (C) a minor amount of a metal carbonated alkylarylsulfonate salt, wherein the equivalents of the whole bases given from the component B is ≥85%, preferably at least 90%, of the equivalents of the whole bases given from the components B and C. The component B has a whole base value of 175-300, a metal/alkylphenate base ratio of 1.1/1 to 4/1, and a carbonate salt/whole metal salt molar ratio of 0.5/1 to 0.75/1, and is preferably a magnesium carbonated alkylarylsulfonate having a whole base value of 300-400 and a metal/sulfonate salt base ratio of 11/1 to 35/1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
