KANA (JAPANESE SYLLABARY)/KANJI (CHINESE CHARACTER) CONVERSION DEVICE

PURPOSE: To change the clause length of a noted clause by a considerably simple and intuitive pen operation in the KANA(Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion processing of an electronic unit having a pen input mechanism. CONSTITUTION: The pen input mechanism is constituted of a liquid crystal display part 5 and a touch panel 8. CPU 1 is provided with following functions in a state where a character string which has been KANA/KANJI-converted and which has not been decided is displayed on the liquid crystal display part 5. When one clause in the character string is touched by a pen and a coordinate position in the display area of the clause is inputted from the touch panel 8, the clause is set to be the noted clause. When the coordinate position in the display area of the noted clause is inputted from the touch panel 8, the character string subsequent to the noted clause is returned to a state before conversion. When the pen is moved to the right on the right side of the noted clause which is returned to the state before conversion, the noted clause is expanded. When the pen is moved to the lift on the right side of the noted clause returned to the state before conversion, the noted clause is compressed.
